Managing Behaviour

When designing a health and safety management system, it may be very frustrating for businesses when great systems are designed and implemented, but workers do not follow the processes. Many organisations may use disciplinary and reward processes to achieve system conformance, however, this approach is usually not completely effective in changing worker behaviours.

Due to the extensive knowledge and experience of the ISM Principal in the field of Behavioural Management (including University Lecturing), ISM is well placed to incorporate desired behaviours at the base level of system design. For organisations to achieve a sustainable system, it is essential that all personnel work together in accordance with the system, and, if the system is inadequate (at any time), inbuilt personnel behaviours ensure improvements are made.

We cannot lose sight that: “a system will only perform as well as the people within the system perform”.

Understanding workplace behaviours may be a difficult process; therefore, an independent “set of eyes” may be helpful, please complete an enquiry (via contacts page) or call if you need assistance.
